  1. Have a Computer Expert setting up things for you?  Maybe getting someone to double check what the "Expert" is saying or doing is a good idea!
  2. Backup, backup, backup!  Click here and sign up for a FREE account with 2GB.  At least get a backup of your files going.  A broadband connection is required.
  3. Get a NAS (Networked Attached Storage) Device if you do not run a server based network.  You will be able to backup all of your peer-to-peer networked computers and a lot more....even access your files over the internet when you are away from the office.
  4. The cost of software getting you down?  Why not try products like; Open Office, ZOHO, Firefox, Thunderbird, Portable Apps ...these should be great for you and they are totally FREE!
  5. If you need broadband service in Trinidad & Tobago, this is probably your best bet (I get no commissions).  TSTT Blink.
  6. Tired of "CODEC" error messages when trying to play video files?  Get this free tool and never worry again.  You can also do on line conversions at Zamzar.
  7. Whenever you make a hardware purchase, calculate the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) i.e. if you buy a printer, know the price of ink supplies etc.; buy a computer and know how you can get service locally.
  8. Insure your hardware: manufacturer warranty will not cover a fall, accidental damage or theft.
  9. A little time and money spent on soliciting "professional" advice saves a lot in the long run.  There are many many sub-specialties in the computer profession!
  10. Stay away from FREE e-mail services (Yahoo, GMail etc.) for business or critical use.  You do not have any control and in the event of any emergency (e-mail scams etc.) you will have very little or no recourse.
  11. Can you recommend a website hosting provider for me to do my own website? Bit By Bit recommends this hosting provider!
  12. Move really big files with http://www.gigasize.com .
  13. Send mail at a future date http://www.futureme.org .
  14. Share photos and browse the world http://www.flickr.com .
  15. Travelling?  It is getting riskier to travel with a notebook and valuable files.  Store them online and retrieve from anywhere with ADrive.
  16. Take a break and play with the kids...make some papertoys.
